Homecoming Court Girl’s Profile

Courtney Moran
Major: Elementary Education Double Minor in Math and Science
Moran was surprised to be named to court. “Part of me thinks it’s kind of funny and part of me is really honored,” she said. Even though graduation is right around the corner, Moran is excited and will be student teaching in the fall. Moran’s favorite moment at Spring Arbor comes from the trip she took to Panama City last year. “We just had a really awesome group, and it was really cool to see God work in a different way than I had seen before,” said Moran. A random fact about her is that she has an Irish twin – she and her sister were born in the same calendar year.

Marcella Jones
Major: Psychology, English Writing minor
Jones considers being nominated for homecoming court an honor. “I know that might sound cliche but I truly feel honored that a large group of people would deem me worthy enough to nominate for Homecoming Queen. It just blesses my heart because I wasn’t even thinking that way,” she said. Jones visited Vegas over spring break with the Peer Advisors and enjoyed being immersed in a completely different culture. For Jones, like most seniors, graduation is bittersweet. “Bitter because I’m leaving this environment and sweet because I’m getting the opportunity to step out on my own two wings and into the life that God has for me,” she said.

Claire Walthall
Major: Elementary Special Education
Along with feeling honored about being named to court, Walthall feels loved, humbled and uncomfortable about being in front of people. “But I’m thankful,” she said. The Spiritual Life Retreat from her freshman year and getting to know her CORE students for the past two years have been Walthall’s favorite moments of her time at Spring Arbor University (SAU). Upon her graduation, she is excited to see where God takes her, but she’s a little nervous about how He’ll get her there. “I’m pumped to share the love of Christ,” said Walthall. Away from SAU, she’ll miss chapel, the student body, the caring faculty and Chaplain Ron Kopicko.

Michaela Crew
Major: Secondary Education English and Social Studies
“I feel surprised,” said Crew about being nominated for homecoming court. “I feel like it’s a fun experience to have,” she said. She is a cross country and track runner for SAU and loves being with her teammates and the girls from the Jones house, where she lives. After graduation Crew will be student teaching, but she is excited for the adventure of not knowing what is next. She is thinking about moving to Ann Arbor and getting a random job and taking the time to explore. “You just don’t have the friendliness and warmness anywhere else,” said Crew.
