O n Oct. 17, 2011, the second annual women’s “Feminar” was held at Spring Arbor University (SAU) in the Dining Commons (DC). This event was hosted by the women resident directors of SAU women’s dormitories: Anna Wilkinson, Carrie Williams, Kelly McGraw and Elizabeth Stimson.

As female college students entered the DC, they were welcomed by refreshments and Haley Taylor singing and Hannah Baker’s accompaniment on the piano. This seminar consisted of questions the audience submitted which were to be answered by guest speakers.
The first section, which dealt with women health, was presented by Wilkinson who read the student’s question cards to SAU’s Holton Health nurses, Mary Rick and Gerrilee Lacy. The second section was delivered by Williams reading the question cards and Angel Kono, a professor at SAU, answering the relationship issues and concerns.
In between segments, Katie Green talked to the women about Vitality, a campus club created to promote health and wellness.
The overall message of Feminar is to let the female college student body know there are faculty and staff at SAU who are available to answer any questions they have, and they are not alone in their life’s journey.
